New Botox Research: Getting Botox to Last Longer!

According to an article in Cosmetic Surgery Times, Zinc can make the effects of Botox injections last 30 percent longer!

Botox is well known as a beauty enhancer that erases age lines and leaves the skin looking smooth and youthful.  There are  many others that suffer from medical conditions like blepharospasm, spasticity, and migraines, for whom Botox is a staple of their treatment.
Some Physician researchers found  the use of Zinc, and a molecule called phytase, prior to the injection of Botox, extended the longevity of the patients' Botox injection two extra months out.
I have noticed, in my practice, that some patients may not be as receptive to Botox, or even if injected with same amount of Botox, may not have the same results on subsequent treatments. Well some researchers have finally solved that mystery.  They found that Botox is a Zinc sensitive molecule; that it requires zinc to work!  So no zinc, no effective Botox treatment.  Some researchers even feel that about 50 percent of the population is zinc deficient!  I recommend that all my patients now take at least 30 mg of zinc per day, five days prior to the injection of Botox, in the hopes of increasing the efficacy and longevity of their injection.
